The National Research Council of Italy is the largest public research institution performing multidisciplinary activities in all scientific domains. Founded in 1923, Cnr mission is to perform research in its own Institutes, promote innovation and competitiveness of the national industrial system and the internationalization of the research system, provide technologies and solutions to emerging public and private needs, advice Government and other public bodies, and contribute to the qualification of human resources. Over 7.000 researchers and technologists operate in a distributed network throughout the national territory (namely 88 Institutes located in 220 research units and labs, and 3 permanent research stations at the Poles) coordinated by 7 thematic departments covering all disciplines. Technology Transfer (TT) represents a priority mission in terms of protection of research results, IPR management and exploitation, support for Spin-off creation, marketing of research results, building partnerships with companies and other public and private organisations. Amongst several initiatives to support knowledge sharing, technology transfer and innovation, the PROMO-TT Instrument is a project jointly developed with Unioncamere, in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce, to promote Cnr technologies and strengthen interaction between public research and businesses aimed at creating new partnerships and fostering exploitation and uptake of research results.
