ICCS was founded in 1989 as an independent, non profit research organisation to support the values, mission, strategic goals, and priorities of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Throughout its long history, it reflects the University’s commitment to excellence in scholarship, promotes the integration of research and teaching, and has significantly contributed to the country’s scientific output in computational science and engineering.

Research at ICCS pursues its vision responding present-day needs, opening up new networks for action, building synergies and working together with industry to offer a world-class research environment for critical inquiry and scholarly exchange.
Scientific research at ICCS is organized within many cross-cutting thematic research areas such as AI and Smart Systems, Hardware and Software, Computer networks, Mobile Communications, Control and Automation, Power Production, Transport and Distribution, Energy, Transport, Climate, Biomedical and Biomechanics, Information Systems, Management and Decision Support, Photonics. At the ICCS, we conduct interdisciplinary computing research that is advancing scientific discovery and driving engineering innovation.
