The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) is a non-profit organization that pursues general interest purposes. The essential mission of the CNIO is to carry out research of excellence and to offer innovative technology in the field of cancer to the National Health System and the National Science and Innovation System. To this end, the following are strategic objectives of the CNIO: (a) To develop research that will lead to new and more effective methods for the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases; (b) To transfer scientific knowledge to clinical practice, ensuring that scientific advances have an impact on our healthcare system as soon as possible and, therefore, on the well-being of patients; (c) To transfer the technology developed at the CNIO to innovative companies; (d) To establish a new and more efficient management system in the European scientific field.
